Anthropologie has two gorgeous bedding sets that I’ve had my eye on forever. The Rosette and the Chambray Crowned Crane are both full of interest. Pleats and buttons were exactly what I wanted for the new bed but the king sized price tags weren’t.

I kept shopping around until…surprise, surprise…I found something similar at Target. The Kissing Pleat Comforter set worked perfectly but was covered in little clear plastic buttons. I wanted to give it something extra so I took on the masochistic task of replacing all the buttons on the king size comforter and shams.
I’d been saving all the spare buttons from my clothing for years so I had a great collection to work with. There are J.Crew leather weave buttons, Scotch and Soda metal buttons, Calvin Klein coat buttons, Guess rhinestone buttons, Liberty of London fabric buttons and many more. It took a whole Saturday but I’m completely smitten with the new bedding!

Beautiful. You did it again. I love your ideas.

Much more beautiful – I love it!
Thanks. I’m definitely glad the work was worth it. Plus, it’s so great to find a use for spare buttons!
Ok, I bought the Kissing Pleat comforter from Target, but my pleats aren’t tight and don’t show well. Is there something you did to make them stand out like in Target’s product picture?
I didn’t do anything to the comforter. Maybe it was sewing on all those buttons that gave the pleats some definition. I’m sure an iron would do a good job but it might be pretty cumbersome. Are you going to replace the buttons too? I’d love to see pics!
This is hilarious, I have the exact same bedspread and over the past year most of the buttons have come off one by one. I was waiting until they all fall off to fix it, but my husband recently suggested I take all my extra clothing buttons and add those instead. I thought it would look weird but I love the way yours looks!
Haha, that’s too funny! You should totally do it. The hubby has the right idea. :)
